Delta Air Lines will launch a non-stop route between Stockholm-Arlanda Airport and Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, the world’s largest airport. Delta will fly this route six times per week, starting on June 4, 2008.
The route will offer more than 150 flight connections in Atlanta, including such cities as Los Angeles, Orlando, Las Vegas, Miami and San Francisco.
“It is with great pleasure that we welcome Delta Air Lines to Stockholm and Arlanda. This non-stop route will give travellers from Stockholm and Sweden access to the world’s largest hub in Atlanta − a hub that offers smooth connections to large parts of the United States. Travellers from the US will now have better access to Stockholm, the Capital of Scandinavia, and Stockholm-Arlanda, the airport with the largest route network in Scandinavia and the Baltic Sea region. This will benefit the business community, while providing opportunities for social and cultural exchange,” says Airport Director Kerstin Lindberg Göransson, LFV Stockholm-Arlanda Airport.
“We are happy to be able to unveil new routes that expand our network and make travel easier for our customers. This new non-stop route offers many new travel alternatives for both business travellers and tourists between Sweden and the United States, as well as for the air cargo market. We have seen a great need for this non-stop route, because in the state of Georgia there are 55 Swedish companies and in Sweden about 900 American ones. This air connection will strengthen business relations between Sweden and the US. Tourists will also benefit from onward connections to such destinations as Florida, the US west coast and Latin America,” says Andy Renner, Delta’s director of international network planning.
Delta Air Lines will fly a Boeing 767-300ER seating 214 passengers, 36 of them in Business Elite, Delta’s business class.
