The number of international passengers rose by ten per cent at Stockholm-Arlanda Airport in January, compared to the same month of 2007. Thailand and Egypt are popular winter destinations.
A total of 1.3 million passengers travelled to and from Stockholm-Arlanda Airport in January 2008. This was an increase of six per cent compared to the same month last year. There were 10 per cent more international passengers than in January 2007. The number of domestic passengers fell by three per cent.
“These figures show the clear connection between a good choice of flights at reasonable fares and increased travel. The strong increase in international travel also demonstrates that air travel is being used where it is at its very best − for long distances, where there are no alternatives,” says Mats Sigurdson, Aviation Marketing Manager, LFV.
During January, 17,000 more passengers chose to travel to Thailand, while Egypt gained more than 10,000 passengers compared to the year-earlier month.
The number of take-offs and landings at Arlanda rose by four per cent, including an eight per cent increase in international flights. Domestic take-offs and landings declined by two per cent.
