Jumbo jet being moving to airport entrance

[2008-08-20 14:15]

Press invitation

The world’s first hostel inside a real Boeing 747-200 aircraft will open at Stockholm-Arlanda Airport in December. On Thursday, August 28 the jumbo jet will be moved to the airport entrance, where it will be refurbished to provide an unconventional accommodation experience. The Jumbo Hostel will become a new Stockholm-Arlanda landmark.

On Thursday, August 28, the jumbo jet will be towed from its stand inside the airport, where it has been parked since 2002 when it retired from charter flight service. A “push-back” tractor will tow the aircraft via the taxiway system to the Jumbo Hostel construction site, located next to the taxiway bridge at the airport entrance. Towing vehicles that specialise in heavy lifting will take over from there.

You are welcome to the Jumbo Hostel construction site to watch this unusual moving operation at Stockholm-Arlanda.

Date: Thursday, August 28, 2008
Time: 10.30 a.m.
Venue: Stockholm-Arlanda Airport, across from the Radisson SAS Arlandia Hotel.
