The world’s airports and airlines gather for speed dating sessions in Stockholm

During September 23-25, representatives of 600 airports and 300 airlines will gather in Stockholm to explore mutual opportunities for new air routes. The whole exercise occurs in the form of ”speed dating” sessions, each lasting 20 minutes, during a two-day period.
The 13th World Route Development Forum is the official name, but in the civil aviation industry this major conference is generally called Routes. Last year the event was held in Dubai, and next year it will take place in Beijing, but this year Stockholm-Arlanda Airport is the host, in cooperation with other regional and national market players.
Concurrently with Routes, the Routes Leaders Forum will also take place. Top-level representatives of the global civil aviation industry will discuss such issues as EU-US “open skies” agreements, the rapid expansion of civil aviation in China and India, aviation and climate change as well as the breakthrough of low fare airlines on long-haul routes.
Stockholm-Arlanda Airport is joining forces with Visit Sweden and the Stockholm Visitors Board to market Sweden and the Stockholm region as destinations. More air routes to Stockholm and Sweden boost our attractiveness, thereby generating more income for the region and the country.
