Airport coaches with ecological rapeseed in their tanks

In April, Flygbussarna Airport Coaches will begin serving Stockholm-Arlanda Airport using buses that run on a fuel based on Swedish-grown organic rapeseed (canola). The first stage will include five buses.
“LFV Stockholm-Arlanda is very pleased that the airport coaches are moving towards lowering their environmental impact. The new fuel that Flygbussarna Airport Coaches is now introducing will enable customers to reduce the environmental effects of their travel. Reduced emissions are also a major benefit, in light of the environmental conditions that apply to Stockholm-Arlanda as part of its operating permit, which also include all ground transport to and from the airport,” says Jan Lindqvist, Head of Corporate Communication, LFV Stockholm-Arlanda Airport.
If the rapeseed fuel experiment works well, the number of buses with rapeseed in their tanks will expand later this year. Their engines and servicing intervals are adjusted to accommodate biofuel. The company’s biofuel requirement is being secured through contracts with local suppliers.
