Those who travel domestically to Gothenburg and Luleå on Scandinavian Airlines can identify themselves at Stockholm-Arlanda Airport with a finger. Efficient, convenient and secure.

Starting on Tuesday, January 29, SAS domestic passengers to Gothenburg and Luleå can travel more easily with the help of a finger when they check in their baggage at Stockholm-Arlanda Airport. Check-in takes place in the usual way via Internet, mobile phone or a machine in the airport terminal departure hall. Baggage is then left at the baggage drop, and the passenger places his or her finger on a special biometric recognition optical reader.

When the passenger then boards the aircraft at the gate, he or she places the same finger on a similar optical reader, providing a match which ensures that passenger and baggage are on the same flight. Once the flight has departed, the information is erased, but passengers who still do not wish to provide fingerprints can instead show a passport or other acceptable ID, exactly as before.

The system is already in use at several smaller airports around Sweden served by SAS, and the airline intends to put it in service on all routes shortly.
