FlyNordic becomes Norwegian

FlyNordic/Norwegian is taking delivery of
new Boeing 737-800 aircraft this spring.
FlyNordic is changing its name to Norwegian starting on April 5. For the past year, Norwegian Air Shuttle has been the owner of FlyNordic, and the airline would now like to have a uniform market profile.
At the same time as FlyNordic is changing its name, it is introducing a number of improvements for travellers. Check-in will henceforth be possible using machines at the airport, a low fare calendar will be introduced on the airline’s website to make it easier to find the cheapest flights, there will be expanded opportunities to rebook tickets and there will be reserved seating on board, which will reduce crowding during the boarding process.
“Under the new brand, the airline will continue with exactly what made FlyNordic so popular: flights that everyone can afford and good service. In addition to this, passengers will notice a number of improvements. The two airlines aim at the same target group, and with a common brand we can become even stronger and more efficient,” says Bjørn Kjos, CEO of Norwegian Air Shuttle.
Norwegian has been successful in Norway, where its expansion has occurred rapidly and profitably. During the past six months or so, FlyNordic has expanded its number of destinations from seven to 20 and promises continued new expansion under its new name.
“Our ambition is that Norwegian should be at least as large in Sweden as in Norway,” Mr Kjos says.
