SAS discontinuing its route to Örnsköldsvik

[2008-11-19 15:49]
Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) is discontinuing its route from Stockholm-Arlanda to Örnsköldsvik in northern Sweden on December 15. For some time, the route has had declining passenger numbers and poor profitability.
“It is unfortunate that we can no longer fly to Örnsköldsvik. But the route has only been profitable for two years during the whole decade, and that is no longer sustainable. We want to emphasise that at all times, we have had smooth cooperation with the business community, the local aviation council and the airport,” says Erik Tallroth, Acting Director Domestic Routes at SAS Sweden.

Passengers with reservations after December 15 are being offered flights to and from Umeå, where SAS is increasing capacity. SAS will also provide ground transport between Örnsköldsvik and Umeå airports for these passengers. Those who wish to cancel their reservation will get their money back.

Other airlines flying the Stockholm-Örnsköldsvik route are Skyways and Höga Kustenflyg.
